A lot of blackberry users by one way other way get their device bricked and will need complete wiping and reloading of operating system, this will leave them to no choice but to lose all the data on the device including contacts.
Smartphone users are encouraged to always backup there data to help in times of unforeseen circumstances. So I am going to give guides to help you through while backing up and restoring your data on a blackberry.
What you will need:
1. Latest Blackberry Desktop manager, which can be downloaded HERE.
2. Original Blackberry USB cable.
Follow these simple steps to Backup Your Blackberry:
- Launch the Blackberry Desktop Manager.
- Connect your Device using the USB cable and wait for the Desktop manager to recognize your device which is connected.
- After it has shown your blackberry, click on Backup and Restore.
- Click on the option to make sure everything is as you want it to be.
- Once you are done, click ok and then click Backup.
- The next screen will give you the option of saving the backup to a directory on your PC, you can either rename the backup file or leave the default name which is Backup-(date). Also make sure to take note of where you are saving it to.
- When the process is done, you have successfully backed up your data and can be easily restored if need be.
Follow these simple steps to Restore Your Blackberry:
- Launch the Blackberry Desktop Manager.
- Connect your Device using the USB cable and wait for the Desktop manager to recognize your device which is connected.
- After it has shown your blackberry, click on Restore.
- Now it will let you select the backup file you want to restore to the device, this is always in .ipd format.
- Select the file you want to restore, then click open.
- You will be prompted if you want to replace the database on the file with that on the device, click yes and wait for the process to complete and you are done.
Note: it takes longer time to restore compare to backing up.
