How to solve Blackberry JVM Error 102 without wiping your device

Do you have a white screen of death showing an error message JVM Error 102? You can easily fix it without wiping your entire device. What the JVM 102 error simply means is that a .cod file on your phone seems to be corrupt, so the phone refuses to load it. So why wipe everything for one bad file? You might not need to.

The steps below will help you fix the JVM Error 102 without you wiping the device.

Step 1

Download JL_Cmder

Step 2

Connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable that came with it.

Step 3

Run JL_Cmder and select option 2 (event log)

Step 4

Scroll to the bottom of the log and look for “JVM Error 102.” The line before it should tell you exactly what file is causing the error.  Save th file name; you will need it later.

Step 5

Go to Start > Run, and type “cmd” then press Enter.

Step 6

Change the directory to the JL_Cmder installation folder by typing the following: cd “C:\Program Files\JL_Cmder\” and press the enter key.

Step 7

Type the following command to remove the offending file:

javaloader.exe -u erase -f FILENAME

where FILENAME is the name of the .cod file. Press enter key

Step 8

Disconnect your phone from your PC and restart it, it should work normally. now you can then go make a backup in case it happens again.

My Blackberry Torch phone has a white screen with “JVM Error 545.” I took the battery several times, but the the error is still there. Please let me know how to fix my phone, if possible, without loosing my data (I don;t have a backup of my data).

    Your help is highly appreciated.

I had the JVM error 102 screen of death too; no backups for a while…
So I tried fix suggested and erased the file
    “net_rim_bb_medialoader_video_480x360_03_b-15” using the Javaloader.exe prog.
BB rebooted and still no luck!
So I looked at event log again and saw the message
    “VM:VCPNs=net_rim_bb_captiveportaldetector
    VM:+BORK
    JVM Error 102
Next I ran Javaloader.exe -u erase -f net_rim_bb_captiveportaldetector for the second time and deleted the offending file.
Then BB rebooted and operated fine. Phew! Didn’t loss anything except a few hours…
I then blacked up the “smart phone” right away.
Lets hope it works ok till i get a 6+…..
